Here we go again. After years of fighting, lost lives, and enormous expense to western countries, the Afghanistanian government is again swallowed up in the power moves of Muslim fanatics. Honestly, there comes a point where you have to say. . . if this ridiculous brand of "religion" is more important to these people than is freedom, economic growth in the world market, education, and respect on a world level - then screw them. (Okay, that's how I feel today. . . maybe tomorrow I'll find more sympathy somewhere in my dark heart.) The biggest tragedy is that the war and revolution caused so many Afghans to HOPE. . . from women beaten down by the Taliban, to men allowed to freely practice their trades without interference, to little girls seeing the inside of a school for the first time. . . . these hopes are flowing down the drain, and the West is tired of stopping the flow when the Afghans won't help themselves.
I believe are leaders know what they are talking about in saying that to let these regimes rise unaccosted will cost us all plenty in years to come. But meanwhile. . . can anyone be left who honestly doesn't understand the destructive virus that Islam has become in these countries?
