Jonah Goldberg has addressed something many of us think about: today's habit of the far left to scream "Fascist!" to silence their philosophical opponents, without really understanding the meaning of the word. Goldberg takes this trend a step further. Through extensive research, he points to the fact that the radical left has used this word to condemn throughout modern history, in order to silence critics and advance an agenda that is often itselffascist.

"Liberal Fascism" is subtitled "...The Secret History of the American Left from Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning". It contains some interesting accounts of the rise of Mussolini and Hitler, the American 60's movement, and the use by the left of the word "fascism" usually incorrectly, while themselves using fascist strongarm tactics.

The book is a bit dry in places, fascinating in most, and worth the read.
