Thanks for writing Pat. I have come to believe that which many wiser than I have suggested: a common weapon of the far Left is to resort to namecalling to shut someone up. In other words, if you raise a question they don't like, they cry "Racist!" or "Nazi!" or whatever, to end the conversation, rather than have to seriously address any point you are making. I think there is a great deal of truth to this. For me the very statement, "You criticize Islam, you are a Nazi" is evidence of lack of understanding of what Nazi ideology really was and is, as well as lack of understanding of what radical Islam is. It's just ignorant. I am reading a new book by Jonah Goldberg, "Liberal Fascism", which addresses the very points you have made. It is a little dry, but Mr. Goldberg has done some great research and presents some excellent arguments. He writes on how the Left throughout history has used namecalling and intimidation to further an agenda that is sometimes (often?) at its core fascist in ideology, even as the Left is screaming "Fascist!" at the opponent. He has a big section on the rise of the Nazis as a leftist movement. Fascinating. Your statement that Leftist politics is a global virus is brilliant.
